In this lecture, Dr. George Guthrie, Marshall Sheppard Professor of Biblical Studies at Regent College, author of several commentaries on Hebrews, overviews how to track with the book’s message, interpret its difficult passages, and apply its astounding insights to the world in which we live.

Join us for a lecture and reception with Dr. George Guthrie, Marshall Sheppard Professor of Biblical Studies at Regent College:

The Beauty of the Old Testament in the New: How the New Testament Authors Read Their Bible.
The New Testament is permeated with approximately 250 overt quotations and over 1,000 allusions to the Old Testament. These appropriations of the older Jewish writings are crafted by the first followers of Jesus to comment on the grand story of Scripture, the identity and work of Jesus himself, the mission of God’s people, and the nature of the gospel. Join us as we explore the beauty, power, and sophistication of how the New Testament authors read their Bible.
