Theme: Lament and Confession. The point of lament is not to mire ourselves in melancholy, but to acknowledge the real brokenness in the world which then inspires a crying out to God for His mercy and reconciliation. The point of confession is not to pile on guilt or shame, but to acknowledge our own brokenness to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness which He promises to give.
