Happy Spring!
Seattle is beautiful this time of year! I want to send a brief note to invite and encourage you to come to church this month! We worship every Sunday at University Presbyterian Church at 8:30am and 10:45am.
Two years ago, we imagined that Easter 2020 might be the Sunday we would ‘return’ from the impacts of COVID. Schools and workplaces had shuttered in March and church leaders around the country were wondering if Easter might be the Sunday to re-engage. Obviously, that didn’t happen!
Now, two years later, many of us are used to a slow Sunday morning. Coffee, pajamas, church online – it’s great, actually. But something isn’t quite the same. We miss your presence! We miss seeing your smile or hearing you sing – yes, even if you are a little off-key!
Yesterday, a mom of teens shared with me that her family is relearning what it means to go to church. She was thrilled to sing together with her UPC family and noticed a lot of the little things she
had missed. Another friend realized that her presence was an encouragement to her pastor – YES! Preaching to a camera is not the same as seeing your eyes!
I know some of you are not yet able to return physically – that’s OK – we will continue to broadcast online and on the radio. But, if you are able, and haven’t yet returned, I invite you back! And, I encourage us all (whether online or in person) to consider inviting a friend, classmate, neighbor, or family member to church!
