International Student Ministries
Living in a foreign country can be a lonely and isolating experience. UPC’s Internationals Ministry exists to share Christ’s love with internationals and to provide fellowship and support. Weekly gatherings include ESL classes, Talk Time, Bible study and community service projects and other activities. In a variety of ways, the ministry equips internationals for effective service in cooperation with UPC and other partner ministries. - Internationals: Please join us for Global Friends (formerly TGIF) each Friday! Bring your dinner and eat together at 5:45 p.m. Then join us at 6:30 for ESL classes, a children’s program, worship, Bible study and talking/games. For more info please visit the ISM Web site.
Language Institute at UPC (LI)
In the last 25 years, more than 75,000 refugees have been accepted to resettle in King County. English language acquisition continues to be among the most important factors in their ability to adapt successfully in our culture. LI serves refugees and immigrants from over 25 different nations in the Greater Seattle area by:
Tutoring English as a second language in small classes or one-on-one
Developing caring, helpful relationships with Christian volunteer tutors
Sharing the gospel when appropriate

Language Acquisition for Mission Service (LAMS)
LAMS equips people who are preparing for cross-cultural ministry by providing them with effective principles and strategies that enable them to learn the language of any people group they are called to serve. Street Youth Ministries (SYM) is a non-profit, faith-based organization serving homeless youth and youth in crisis ages 13 to 22. SYM meets the immediate basic needs of food, clothing and shelter and also provides drop-in services, advocacy, mentoring and activities. Staff and volunteers are committed to building trusting and Christ-like relationships with youth to foster self-sufficiency, self-awareness, hope and healing.
