CD-ChristmasWelcomeCoverA Christmas Welcome

For over a decade the musicians of UPC’s Sunday evening services have gathered in Larson Hall on Christmas Eve to celebrate candlelight services with family and friends. This CD features the songs and carols that have been composed and arranged over the years for the instruments and voices of our worship community on this special night.

Featuring perennial favorites such as Katie Freeze's "How Many Angels?" and "Sitting on My Hillside," the CD was recorded entirely by the Sunday Evening Worship Ensemble and Chamber Choir. A suggested donation of $15 supports UPC’s worship ministry; CDs will be available in Larson Fellowship during on December 9 and throughout December or download the order form now. For more info, call 206/524-7301 ext. 624.

Background of the CD

This CD commemorates UPC’s 100th anniversary and celebrates 15 years of collaboration between Earl Palmer and music director Kari Medina.

Each piece was written for a specific sermon, beginning with Earl’s 1993 series on the Sanctuary windows and ending with the song "I Know a House." Serving as the album’s title, "I Know a House" is based on an original Earl-authored poem which Kari set to music for his 50th anniversary in ministry.

From working symphonic musicians to regular members of the Sunday Evening worship team, the album reflects the diverse musical voices and instruments that characterize our worship community at UPC and the Seattle community at large.
