Welcome to Side-by-Side!
Coming alongside families with seriously ill children
At Side-by-Side, our mission is to care for families that have a seriously ill child as neighbors and friends. Side-by-Side staff members, together with our screened, trained and supported volunteers, offer assistance to families who have temporarily relocated to Seattle for treatment, complementing the care they receive from the healthcare community. Through our Family Support Program and our partnership with the Ronald McDonald House, we provide practical and relational local support for them while they are away from home. Families are referred to us by social workers and staff from Seattle Children's Hospital, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, the Hutch School, Ronald McDonald House, and by other families who have received our support. Self-referrals are always welcome!

How about 2–5 hours a week of play?
Family Support Volunteers, in teams of two, offer consistent fun and diversion for kids while your family is in Seattle for long-term treatment. Screened, trained, and supported, they are safe and reliable adults with whom your children can enjoy a game of UNO, a trek to the Space Needle, and everything in between. Want to get away for a week of fun?
Camp Side-by-Side is a classic summer experience designed for families who have a child with cancer. Parents and caregivers have a chance to rest, kids have a chance to play for hours, and everyone is treated to the celebration of being together! During the week, you can enjoy the climbing wall, the ropes course, the archery range, the swimming pool and the zip-line. To learn more about Camp Side-by-Side, click here
