The Inn, a Tuesday night worship service for college students at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle

The Inn Seattle

The Inn meets during the summer on Tuesdays at 7 pm in Calvin (at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, of course. Here's a map.) The Summer Inn is a much smaller, low-key worship gathering for college-age students from around the country and world. During the school year, the Inn gathers on Tuesdays at 9pm in Larson Hall.

Each week nearly 1,000 university students gather together in Larson Hall to celebrate real life in Jesus Christ in worship through humor, song, prayer, teaching, and socializing.

The Inn began over 30 years ago with about 30 students in a little old building known as The Inn Chapel. Today, students come from all over the Seattle area but mainly from the University of Washington. The Inn is best described as a weekly service of celebration. It is not a seeker-oriented event, though many seekers come and many have discovered Jesus for the first time here. It is not merely a worship service for believers either, though we do celebrate the Lord's Supper every third week. The Inn is high in energy, low on Christian cliché, and centered on making Jesus relevant, whether you are unchurched, sitting on the fence, or actively maturing in your faith.

Spring Inn Schedule

Series 3—Calling: You're called, but it's not about you

Overview: College students, if not everybody, are seeking what it is that they are called to. Usually that is a particular major, particular job, or, of course, a particular person (i.e. spouse). But calling should not be reduced to a specific job or desire. Rather, calling is about discovering who God is and why that matters for what we do with our ENTIRE lives, not merely our careers or our majors. Our calling is to pursue God with our lives that our lives might bear witness to God's heartbeat in the world. It is a witness, of course, that plays out in much more than our jobs and how much we tithe or who we marry. Rather, our calling is less about us and a lot more about who God is.

Spring quarter we will look at specific stories of calling throughout the Bible. We will see that God does, in fact, call people to specific tasks. But, within those particular callings, the heart of God is exposed through a story or a promise. Our commitment over the course of our final 10 weeks is to know the heart of God that calls us to share hope, grace, love, and restoration to a world in need.
