We recognize that God gives each of us gifts that are to be used to bless others through ministry. There are specific ways that vocation and career may intersect. There are three specific ministries that fall under our Vocation banner.

Global Health Community
Seattle is recognized as one of the leading centers for global health world-wide. Our city is uniquely blessed not only with well-established secular organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, PATH, UW Department of Global Health, Mercy Corps, Fred Hutch and more, but also outstanding faith-based organizations such as World Vision US, World Concern, Medical Teams International, and others.
As a community of believers seeking to carry out God’s work in our world, University Presbyterian Church members and friends have much to contribute to this conversation. Whether you are directly engaged in the medical community or elsewhere, we invite you into this conversation as we explore our individual and collective roles in global health.
In the broader global health community in Seattle, University Presbyterian Church’s SCOPE project is a recognized paradigm for great cooperation between faith-based and secular organizations, joining as it does in Ethiopia’s Gondar Province the work of University Presbyterian Church medical missionary Tim Teusink, the UW Global Health Department, and the Ethiopian Coptic Church.

Parish Nurses
Our parish nurse ministry focuses on educating and equipping our community to take charge of their wellness, to be better informed, and to make well-informed decisions when caring for themselves and their loved-ones. They primarily do this through hosting a Powerful Tools for Caregivers class three times a year and by hosting Blood Pressure Sundays on the fourth Sunday of each month in Larson fellowship.
