UPC Sermon Series | Songs of the Servant | Lent 2015
University Presbyterian Church |
Your mission is to serve. The world tells us that it's better to be served, but not Jesus. Jesus says serve. That's what God called Israel to do because that was their mission. That's what Jesus did because that was his mission. And that's what Jesus invites you to do. It's your mission. To follow him is to learn that we connect to the greatness of life—of our lives—when we serve others. When we serve, we meet him and discover his Holy Spirit releasing transformational power. We find him sharing his hope through us. And that's worth singing about. Join a small group this Lent and connect with the mission of Jesus and the mission of UPC. www.upc.org
There's a backstory to Christmas, and there's a backstory to life. It's the story that comes before the story. It's the story that sets up the context, characters, and narrative threads that shape the main story. St. John tells us that backstory. And it turns out not only to be the story behind the baby Jesus; it's also the story that shapes the story of our lives.
