New Members Kickoffs
Are you ready to become a member of University Presbyterian Church? Then register for and attend the kickoff! After the kickoff you'll participate in a six-week small group led by a deacon or elder. At the end we'll celebrate with a special event featuring Pastor George Hinman. Contact Sharon to register. The next opportunity to explore membership is fall 2012.
Why become a member?
- It is an opportunity to wrestle with and clarify what you believe.
- It affirms your commitment to God and his people.
- It is a commitment to a particular part of God's family that nurtures continuing growth in your faith.
When can I start the new member process?
The new member process starts with a kickoff. The next opportunity to explore membership is fall 2012.
What's next?
This year, each new member candidate will participate in small groups. These groups will replace the classes we have offered in the past. At the kickoff you'll be connected with a small group facilitated by an elder or deacon. The groups will be offered different days, times, and locations—we want to make this as convenient as possible for everyone.
Joining Day
After the membership process, we have a joining day where new members will be introduced to the congregation at the service they usually attend.
Do I need to be baptized to be a member?
Yes. Your baptism could have taken place when you were an infant, child or adult; it could have taken place at a non-Presbyterian church. That’s okay. But if you haven’t been baptized then you need to be baptized prior to becoming a member. More info on Baptism at UPC.
